International Day of Women and Girls in Science
This annual International Day was established on December 2015 by the General Assembly decided to recognise women’s contributions in science, smash stereotypes and discrimination against women in science and to promote the study of science subjects among women to promote the study of scientific subjects by female students.
Even today, long-standing biases and gender stereotypes are steering girls and women away from science related fields, despite their fundamental role in the scientific and technological communities.
The 6th International Day of Women and Girls in Science Assembly will be held at the United Nations Headquarters virtually. The theme will be Beyond the Borders: Equality in Science for Society, with a special focus on the value of the social aspects and cultural dimensions in Science, Technology and Innovation to enhance sustainable development programmes.
We take this opportunity to thank all the women who are part of our team and to the women who inspired them.
Here are some of them at work today!
