This home-made heater is based on irradiation-effect from an halogen lamp placed inside it; several halogen lamps – all commercially available - have been successfully used. Highest temperatures with negligible interference with e-beam produced by RHEED have been obtained by 400W DC-lamps. The heater can be used either in UHV as well as in oxidizing condition.
